Solutions and services for the complete product life cycle
“Our slogan for Busworld Europe ‘Making Mobility Happen. Together with you!’ makes it clear that we support and stand by our customers throughout the entire product life cycle with a wide range of intelligent solutions and customized services,” says Uwe Bittroff, Managing Director of the HÜBNER Group with responsibility for the Mobility Road division. “Our aim is for bus manufacturers and transit operators to benefit from the HÜBNER Group as a strong partner.”
At the world’s most important trade fair for the bus industry, the HÜBNER Group will be showcasing its comprehensive product portfolio. This ranges from HÜBNER’s proven folding bellows and articulation systems, to door safety and sealing systems with finger protection profiles, to convenient ramp and lift entry systems, to insulation components, to chassis solutions for suspension, damping and steering.
Innovations for the articulation system – “1.60 Meters of the Bus”
Ready for installation by bus manufacturers, HÜBNER systems have been connecting the passenger areas of articulated buses for decades. Several innovations for this complete system “1.60 Meters of the Bus” will be on display at Booth 755 in Hall 7:
A new development is the weight-reduced bus articulation HNGK 28.2, which is as much 42 percent lighter than the previous standard model. In addition to its proven and convenient ease of maintenance, the new unit provides increased ground clearance for the bus.
With its new folding bellows material Ecoflex, HÜBNER is presenting a fabric that sets new standards in fire protection as well as sustainability and insulation performance. In combination with a new inner bellows, Ecoflex stands out for its thermal and acoustic insulation properties, which optimize noise levels and energy consumption at the same time.
Articulated buses also shine in a new light thanks to HÜBNER’s translucent bellows fabrics available in a wide range of colors and with integrated lighting elements for increased passenger comfort and a feel-good atmosphere in the bus. HÜBNER offers lighting solutions that are directly installed in the folding bellows – in flexible configurations in accordance with customer requirements. These new design elements – included in the middle frame or directly in the folding bellows – can be easily retrofitted in existing systems and are also simple to maintain.
More than 100,000 systems successfully on the market
“We are working with the experience that comes from having more than 100,000 systems successfully in the market,” explains Tim Dortans, Vice President Global Sales Mobility Road of the HÜBNER Group. “On this basis, the HÜBNER Group with its strong network of companies is continuously developing new improvements for greater sustainability and driving comfort. We develop future-oriented components and customized systems to serve the needs of our customers in the bus and commercial vehicle industry.”
Looking into the future: Holographic applications for buses
Another HÜBNER highlight at Busworld will be holographic applications for public transport, which HÜBNER is developing together with ZEISS Microoptics. “We look forward to giving the bus industry a taste of what public transport of the future will feel like with holography,” says Konrad Brimo, Vice President Global Sales Material Solutions at the HÜBNER Group.
These innovations include transparent holographic displays that can project information such as arrival and departure times onto windows and doors in the bus, displaying this information directly in the passengers' field of vision. The Holo Button enables contactless opening of doors in buses and trains using holography.
SensIQ sets new standards for door safety systems
With its product family SensIQ, HÜBNER is setting new standards for door safety systems. The new models of the SensIQ contact line provide even more passenger safety thanks to optimum fire protection. The safety contact strips are compatible with all standard systems in use in public transport.
The new SensIQ signal Pro improves the illumination of door systems in buses as well as in rail vehicles. The product uses different signal colors to reliably inform passengers when doors are opening and closing with light strips that feature particularly even illumination and also contribute to a longer service life for the system.
Fast and reliable support with proactive service concepts
A new HÜBNER maintenance concept proactively addresses the needs of transit operators as well as manufacturers. It is often the case that vehicle defects are only detected after unusual noises, unexpected error messages or problematic vehicle handling make them apparent. For transit companies, this has the unpleasant result of unplanned downtimes. To meet this problem, HÜBNER is offering new, targeted service packages to minimize downtimes.
“Comprehensive service is an important element of sustainable mobility, alongside a global production network and solutions for greater energy efficiency,” explains Uwe Bittroff. “To reduce unexpected vehicle downtimes, the HÜBNER Group is now offering proactive service in different forms. This way we can help our customers in providing reliable bus transport to their users.”
Spare parts in 24 hours
HÜBNER’s digitalized Remote Service helps with this by providing fast reaction times to repair requests and speedy delivery of spare parts (24 hours). This is facilitated in part by the customer portal HUBLink that provides online troubleshooting support in the case of defects and transit operators digital support in the continuous optimization of the operation and maintenance of their vehicle fleets.
Spring-by-Wire – The future of E-mobility without compressed air
The HÜBNER Group company Hemscheidt Fahrwerktechnik has contributed a groundbreaking solution for the future of electromobility with its Spring-by-Wire system. This system provides hydropneumatic chassis suspension and damping for vehicles in an more efficient alternative that operates without compressed air.
With its compact size, the system will provide significant savings in weight and in the necessary installation space, giving bus manufacturers new possibilities in the design of their vehicles. In addition, Spring-by-Wire not only simplifies the assembly process in vehicle manufacturing but also makes things simpler all the way through to the after-sales process.
