Avoiding risks and injuries
SensIQ contact safety edges are an essential safety system for entrance areas in buses and trains. Integrated into finger protection profiles, they reliably prevent persons and objects from being trapped in or injured by closing doors.
Finger protection profiles for buses and trains
Finger protection profiles for buses and rail vehicles consist of rubber profiles equipped with electrical contact edges. This safety system operates directly at the leading edge of the door. When touched by persons or objects, an electrical switching pulse is generated, which causes the closing doors to reverse. This reliably prevents passengers from being trapped in the door.
Even if a very thin object, such as a dog leash or a backpack strap, is caught in the door, the system will trigger once the vehicle starts moving and will cause the vehicle to stop or alert the driver.
SensIQ contact is suitable for straight, curved, and angled doors. It is maintenance-free and allows automatic monitoring of safety system's availability.
The SensIQ contact product range also includes contact switches for step tread edges to ensure their safe automatic extension and retraction.
In short: SensIQ contact detects passengers and objects touching the door edge and generates an electrical switching pulse that causes the doors to reverse.
The benefits of SensIQ contact
- Low actuation forces and short actuation travel, even at high switching angles.
- Rated for more than 1 million switching cycles, the system provides great cycle durability and ageing resistance, key characteristics that are confirmed by ongoing climatic chamber and switching cycle testing.
- SensIQ contact is available in a wide variety of sensor and cable lengths, end resistor configurations, with drag line-compatible cables and pre-assembled plugs.
- The sensors are entirely halogen-free.
