HÜBNER COMPONENTS IN NEW AIRBUS A350

Paris/Kassel. HÜBNER products can now also be found in the Airbus A350. The HÜBNER Group, which is a leader in the field of gangways and door sealing and safety systems for buses and railway vehicles, is now supplying paneling elements for the interiors of the new family of airplanes being built by the European aircraft manufacturer. The family-owned company headquartered in Kassel, Germany, announced an order for this business today at the International Paris Air Show that is getting started today at the Le Bourget Exhibition Center just outside of Paris.

Silicone compounds with high-quality aerospace specifications

"Aerospace is one of the target markets that we want to concentrate on more with our business segment Material Solutions, in addition to the already strong position that we have in the mobility sector with public transportation," explains the responsible General Manager Ingolf Cedra.  "And we are pleased that we have succeeded in securing a prestigious order for the supply of interior components for the Airbus A350." Until now the HÜBNER's Material Solutions unit mainly provided seals for helicopter doors and windows as well as elastomer components for airplane doors.

The new order will be handled by the company's French subsidiary Heurteaux, which has been part of the HÜBNER Group for six years and is based in Maule in the vicinity of Paris. Heurteaux will deliver silicone products meeting the requirements of airplane interiors to the Airbus supplier DIEHL Aviation. "The products have been developed through a lengthy testing process to fulfill the high-quality aerospace standards," explains Tim Konze, Key Account Manager for HÜBNER Material Solutions. "We needed to combine the exacting physical and chemical requirements that are generally demanded for aircraft parts with the requirements for fire resistance that apply for interior components. Getting the right color and surface characteristics at the same time is a demanding task."

HÜBNER has been active in the field of airport technology for more than 40 years. The company supplies airports around the world with folding canopies for passenger boarding bridges – the connecting element between the boarding bridge and the aircraft. The two largest German airports in Frankfurt and Munich are equipped with these folding canopies, for example. In its Material Solutions business segment, HÜBNER has brought together the production of elastomers, fiber-reinforced plastics, thermoplastics, polyurethane foam components as well as coated fabrics. Konze: "In the aerospace field we have successfully focused on providing elastomer seals for airplane interiors as well as fabric seals on an elastomer basis for aircraft doors and structural components."

The International Paris Air Show at the Le Bourget Airport is the largest and longest-running aerospace industry exhibition in the world. The exhibition is organized by the French Aerospace Industries Association and has become the most important international platform for the global aviation industry. HÜBNER can be found at the Air Show in Le Bourget in exhibition hall 4 at booth G101.
