Christopher and Martin Sames both to serve as managing directors

Christopher Sames (47) has been a Managing Director of HEMSCHEIDT Engineering GmbH & Co. KG since 2017, which he has led together with Dr. Mark Wöhrmann. He is a mechanical engineer by profession and responsible for the areas of Sales, Marketing and Business Development in the company management.

Martin Sames is also a mechanical engineer. Starting now, he will be responsible for the areas Technology, Finance & Controlling and Supply Chain Management. Until now, he has served as the Site Manager and Authorized Signatory at HEMSCHEIDT Engineering.

HEMSCHEIDT Engineering firmly established in the rail industry

“HEMSCHEIDT Engineering’s development over the last several years has been a true success story,” remarks Kai Mentel, Managing Director of the HÜBNER Group and responsible for the Mobility Rail division. “HEMSCHEIDT Engineering has now made a real name for itself in the rail industry with its range of stabilizers, chassis components, special dampers and articulation systems. A big thank goes to Dr. Mark Wöhrmann who has made a great contribution to this development, together with Christopher and Martin Sames.”

HEMSCHEIDT Engineering was founded in 1990 as Sames Engineering. The company has been part of the HÜBNER Group since 2017, and at the time of its acquisition had three employees. HEMSCHEIDT Engineering now employs around 25 people at the Feucht site. In 2017, Dr Mark Wöhrmann joined the top management team at HEMSCHEIDT Engineering in addition to his other position as Managing Director of HEMSCHEIDT Fahrwerktechnik GmbH & Co. KG located in Haan-Gruiten, in the Düsseldorf area. HEMSCHEIDT Fahrwerktechnik was already part of the HÜBNER Group at this time.

The chassis systems of the future – operating without compressed air

HEMSCHEIDT Engineering and HEMSCHEIDT Fahrwerktechnik are pursuing a common goal of expanding the use of the hydropneumatic suspension and damping systems that the two companies develop in house for use in the rail sector as well as in applications for buses, trucks and commercial vehicles. “Compressed air consumes large amounts of energy in the suspension and damping of rail vehicles. We are convinced that hydropneumatic systems can replace compressed air-based suspension systems and thus be real game changers for greater sustainability in the rail industry,” emphasize Christopher and Martin Sames.

With this change in the top management, the two companies will continue to cooperate closely. HEMSCHEIDT Engineering will continue to have the majority of the products it develops be manufactured by HEMSCHEIDT Fahrwerktechnik. The company is a specialist for the development and production of customized chassis systems for buses, rail vehicles and commercial vehicles.
