HÜBNER bolsters its Hungarian location

Nyíregyháza/Kassel. Strong growth in the mobility sector is making an expansion necessary. In the presence of Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó, HÜBNER, the global leader in the field of gangway systems for buses and railway vehicles, has celebrated the topping out of a new production building at its location in Nyíregyháza in northeast Hungary. With the construction of this fourth production hall, the company's manufacturing space has grown by another 8,600 square meters. This location is already HÜBNER's largest outside of Germany, with more than 850 employees working for the family-owned company in connection with the production of gangway systems as well as elastomer door sealing systems.

"HÜBNER-H Kft has been present at this location for more than 22 years and from the beginning has been closely connected with the city of Nyíregyháza and its citizens. This investment is also a clear sign that HÜBNER believes in the region and its potential," said location head Ingo Heerdt to a large audience of representatives from politics and business. He thanked Minister Szijjártó and the President of the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA), Róbert Ésik, for the extensive support that the Hungarian government has provided for the project. In a first step, HÜBNER has invested 10.8 million EUR (approx. 3.37 billion forint) in new development of the Nyíregyháza location. Further investments of 6.5 million EUR (approx. 2.16 billion forint) are planned.

"This investment is further proof of the competitiveness of the Hungarian economy," remarked Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Péter Szijjártó in the course of the topping out ceremony. "We are pleased that it has been possible to have a company with this leading role in the market establish itself in this region. Particularly in the rural regions of Hungary, we are endeavoring to create and to secure jobs," Szijjártó explained further.

"With the present multi-million euro investment we want to continue to develop existing business areas and to facilitate further growth," Heerdt emphasized. The new production hall will be concentrated on the production of gangway systems for the bus industry, where there has been strong growth for several years. The new investments will also support significant capacity increases in the area of railway vehicle gangways. Production activities in the new facilities will commence at the beginning of the coming year.
