HÜBNER develops high-quality gangway systems for metros, subways and urban rail vehicles that are specially designed to meet the demanding requirements of urban rapid transit. HÜBNER gangway solutions can be customized to all vehicle types. They provide safe and secure inter-car connections that are flexible and highly durable.
In metro and urban rail operations, gangway systems must be extremely robust. They are exposed to heavy passenger traffic, frequent stops and intensive use. At the same time, they need to provide excellent sound insulation, high flame resistance and effective protection against vandalism.
Product overview / System solutions
HÜBNER gangway systems have a modular structure and can be flexibly adapted to different vehicle types.
Variants: Single-wall corrugated bellows or double-wall corrugated bellows, each with or without interior cladding.
Gangway interior: The gangway’s articulated ceiling and side walls with elastic interior paneling and its bridge assembly together provide effective compensation of train movements and ensure a smooth, attractive surface to enhance passenger comfort.

Corrugated bellows with elastic inner paneling
The corrugated bellows serve as the central connecting element between cars. It guarantees a secure, flexible and highly durable inter-car connection under varying operating conditions.
Depending on the technical demands, the corrugated bellows may have a single layer (single corrugated bellows) or a double layer (double corrugated bellows).
Single corrugated bellows: Compact design, low weight, cost-efficient solution.
Double corrugated bellows: For more demanding requirements in acoustic and thermal insulation.
All materials meet applicable fire-safety standards (e.g. EN 45545, HL1–HL3, NFPA 130, etc.) and are weather-resistant and long-lasting.
Attachment systems
The corrugated bellows may be attached to the car body either via a bolted frame or a coupling frame.
Bolted frame: A simple, robust solution for standard applications.
Coupling frame: Facilitates fast disconnection or replacement; the corrugated bellows can be detached with a few simple steps. Perfect when cars are frequently removed from a train set.
Both connection systems are pressure-tight and are supplied with integrated sealing – additional sealing measures are not required during installation.
Interior paneling
The gangway systems can be equipped with interior paneling to create a pleasant interior feeling in the gangway space. Depending on customer wishes, different solutions are available for the side and ceiling areas of the gangway – always with a focus on durability, design integration and effective vandalism protection.
Side-wall solutions
Flexible side walls: Smooth, hard-wearing surfaces with optional painting according to customer wishes – robust against vandalism and easy to clean.
Rolling side walls: Limits deformation of side walls during curves providing a wider passageway with consistent comfort and design.
Segmented sliding side walls: Overlapping sliding segments prevent deformation entirely and provide maximum freedom of movement for passengers.
Ceiling solutions
Articulated ceiling: Movable ceiling elements glide smoothly over one another, reliably compensating for car movements. Available in customer-specified color schemes for a harmonious interior design.

Bridge systems
For comfortable passage between cars, HÜBNER offers a range of bridge systems. All systems are handicapped accessible (TSI PRM) and can be customized for different rail vehicles.
Bridge plates: For basic requirements. Simple and robust design with a long service life due to their special coating and low-wear sliding materials.
Linking bridges: Advanced design for greater comfort and smooth, gap-free compensation for extreme movements.
Combi-bridges: Highly versatile, self-supporting and maintenance-friendly. They adapt to almost any contour and combine technical efficiency with maximum passenger comfort.
